Founded in 1983, we are an award-winning and integrated architecture, planning and urban design firm. We provide a humanistic approach to design; viewing our work as a form of community building. Since our inception, we have positioned ourselves as a fully integrated practice, with planning and architecture expertise. This integration provides our firm with a depth of “real world” understanding. We
know what it takes to build what we plan, and conversely, we know
how what we build affects the urban environment.
Led by owner Mark Steele and the managing principals, Steve Miles and Diego Velasco, our 17 person firm has successfully completed hundreds of projects within the private and public sector spanning across disciplines - retail, hospitality, residential, planning and civic.
Our firm is built on the principle that whether it’s a building we are designing or a plan for a community, it’s only successful if it enhances and supports the lives of people.
M.W. Steele Group is centered around the communities our buildings serve, and the talented yet humble architects, planners and staff - all of whom we consider family - that make every project possible.
This counter-intuitive choice of ours, along with choosing to make urban planning integral to our approach rewarded us in many ways we never expected.
We have had the honor of working with like-minded clients and cemented long-term artistic collaborations with not merely influential people, but thoughtful leaders and mavericks. Like us, these clients believe in contextual architecture. They appreciate that they, and the structures they commission, are part of something greater than themselves and understand that planning and architecture can work to reinforce this concept.
