As part of the outreach for the Southeastern and Encanto Community Plan Updates, M.W. Steele conducted a series of “Pop-Up Outreach” efforts throughout different neighborhoods of the two communities. The Pop-Up Outreach Program was inspired by a desire to reach out to the community in non-conventional ways and a need to establish a stronger visible connection between the everyday spaces and daily occurrences of community stakeholders and the community plan update. The outreach methods employed helped foster a dialogue in the community and engaged stakeholders in a format that encouraged them to think about their environment and the community plan.

 

The program was composed of three complementary and unique “pop-up” installations:

 
  • Chalkboard chat (selfstanding chalkboard located at key locations in both communities to spark a dialogue)

  • Pop-up Feedback Tree (used to distribute information about the plan, display maps and other key graphics)

  • Feedback Survey boxes (heavy-duty metal suggestion boxes located at four locations.
