GATEWAY AT 8TH ST. & NATIONAL CITY BLVD.

MW Steele Group was retained by the National City Community Development Commission to design and develop concepts for the creation of a future gateway into National City. The project involved the development of streetscape concepts for enhancing the intersection of 8th Street and National City Boulevard. Several design alternatives were studied to improve the existing conditions, with an effort made to unify the intersection and create a dynamic sense of arrival. Concept renderings illustrate ideas for a pedestrian bridge linking future development with LED signage, a clock tower, and street trees, with enhanced paving at crosswalks to identify this as the entrance portal to National City.
