The Ida and Cecil Green University of California, San Diego Faculty Club project consisted of two major programmatic components: a significant expansion of the existing main dining hall, and the development of a new conference center. Also included are a renovation and expansion of the existing kitchen and the provision of ancillary facilities related to the conference center.
The existing main dining hall was expanded to enclose the area formerly occupied by an outdoor dining terrace, and the volume of both was combined and oriented to the adjacent Eucalyptus grove.
The expansion of the conference and dining space complements the existing and planned conference facilities on campus, including the Institute of the Americas, Price Center, and Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
