Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church
This new church for a growing parish community north of San Diego is the result of an intensive master planning process that seeks to create a strong sense of religious community on a very challenging site. Working closely with a parish building committee for more than two years, we have achieved consensus on a master plan that knits together existing buildings and a new, 30,000 SF structure that will accommodate a 1000-seat worship space, plus administrative offices and religious education facilities, on a total of 11 acres. The rugged, steeply sloping site presents significant challenges for marrying the new church, and its required parking, with its natural setting. Use of natural stone and heavy timber construction within the building will reinforce this connection.
