North Embarcadero Alliance Visionary Plan
MW Steele Group was a key member of the project team charged with developing a visionary plan for San Diego’s “front door”—it’s waterfront. In collaboration with Sasaki Associates, MW Steele Group conducted community workshops to discuss goals and objectives, address implementation concerns and identify planning alternatives. The resulting overall urban design framework for the North Embarcadero established the location and character of public plazas, parks, piers and other public amenities; the circulation pattern and parking strategy to support development and public access; and the location, intensity and character of commercial and residential development.
In addition to a framework for public infrastructure, MW Steele Group also generated urban design guidelines as parameters for future private development within the North Embarcadero District.
