M.W. Steele Group completed George’s at the Cove Ocean View rooftop terrace expansion in the summer of 2016. Located in the newly renovated 1250 Prospect Street commercial center, the project resulted in 800 additional square feet of new dining and bar space.

Design Features:

  • A new open-air lounge, bar area, and beverage and service station.
  • A contemporary design that carries through from the original roof terrace remodel that was completed in 2008 using a similar color palette, styling and flooring.
  • The unique bar counter tops are made of translucent white resin panels with built-in LED lighting that creates an illuminating glow during the evening.
  • Surrounding the new bar area is cozy built-in bench seating (that also doubles as storage), offering patrons views of the ocean from every seat.

The expansion sits elevated over an adjacent, existing roof that was being used as a rooftop mechanical yard. By relocating and screening the equipment we were able to expand the terrace and take advantage of the unique views of the La Jolla Cove.

Initial Remodel Completed 2008:

The original remodel comprised of a tenant improvement converting 2,200 SF of rooftop mechanical space into a dining terrace providing space for 140 dining occupants and another 12 bar seats.   As an integral part of the George’s at the Cove restaurants,  the remodeled Ocean Terrace is a popular spot that is the perfect backdrop for outdoor rooftop dining with a sweeping ocean view of La Jolla Cove.
